NASA CALLS OFF NEW MOON ROCKET LAUNCH

  • 29/08/2022

Nasa has postponed the launch of its massive new Moon rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS).

Controllers struggled to cool down an engine on the 100m-tall vehicle to its proper operating temperature.

They had previously been concerned about what appeared to be a crack high up on the rocket, but it was later determined to be frost build-up.

The SLS is NASA's largest rocket ever built. It'll be used to return astronauts to the Moon.

The first flight, part of Nasa's Artemis programme, is merely a demonstration with no passengers on board. However, more complex missions with people living on the lunar surface for weeks at a time are planned for the future.
