JOINT EFFORT TO LIMIT WAGE HIKES FOR CONSTRUCTION WORKERS IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The Ministry of Commerce is also working in coordination with the Manpower Authority to limit wage increases for construction workers locally in the context of global conditions. The ministry is working on calculations to achieve the objective by facilitating the granting of licenses to construction companies, which will help increase the labor rate in the market and thereby limit wage hikes. 


Licenses are granted to companies that provide necessary goods, materials and related services and meet the needs of the country at a reasonable price. The ministry's under-secretary Mohammad Al-Nazi said that the ministry is making efforts in coordination with the human resource department to reduce the wages of workers in the construction and building sector. He added that the ministry's role is limited to renewing and issuing licenses to construction and contracting companies and securing necessary licenses that allow them to recruit workers.
