India's first underwater metro completes its trial run

India, April 13: Kolkata Metro has made history by successfully completing the country's first underwater metro trial run under the river Hooghly. Similar to the Eurostar, the underwater tunnel connecting London and Paris, the tunnel is one of the metro's most revolutionary achievements of all time.

Two six-coach metro trains successfully completed a trial run on the 4.8 km stretch from Mahakaran station to Howrah Maidana station in Kolkata. Test flights will continue for the next seven months.
