Destruction of the world’s rainforests surged in 2022

New reports says that the destruction of the world’s rainforests accelerated previous year, despite global pledges to stop deforestation by 2030. According to the report by the World Resources Institute's  Global Forest Watch, which uses data gathered by the University of Maryland, an area of tropical forest the size of Switzerland was lost in 2022, with forest destruction increased by 10% compared to the last year.
