A brutal suicide bombing struck a security installation in Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan, on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 civilians, including seven children. Two attackers drove explosive-laden vehicles into the site, causing a massive blast that also brought down the roof of a nearby mosque. The explosion occurred shortly after residents had broken their Ramadan fast, and the local market was bustling with activity. Security forces successfully repelled additional militants attempting to breach the facility, killing six assailants in a subsequent gunfight.

Medical teams at Bannu Hospital reported that all the victims were civilians caught under collapsed structures. At least 30 others were injured in the attack, with rescue operations still underway to recover any remaining casualties from the rubble. Video footage from the scene showed residents working through debris, clearing broken bricks and twisted metal. Authorities have not yet identified the perpetrators, but attacks by the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) have been on the rise in border areas.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the bombing, vowing that Pakistan would not allow its enemies to succeed. Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the attack took place, has called for an immediate investigation into the incident. The attack highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, particularly in areas near the Afghan border.
