According to data released by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), Kuwait’s total population reached 4,987,826 by the end of December 2024. Of this, 1,567,983 were Kuwaiti citizens, accounting for 31% of the population, while non-Kuwaitis totaled 3,419,843.
Among Kuwaiti citizens, there were 773,060 males and 794,923 females. The non-Kuwaiti population included 2,259,690 males and 1,160,153 females. Employment statistics showed that 78% of government employees were Kuwaitis, while expatriates comprised 22%. In contrast, Kuwaitis represented only 4% of the private sector workforce, with non-Kuwaitis making up 96%.
The total number of expatriate workers was 2,560,252, compared to 540,878 Kuwaiti workers. Additionally, there were 780,930 domestic workers in the country.
Family demographics indicated that the average Kuwaiti household consists of seven members, while expatriate families average just two. The birth rate per 1,000 people was 21 for Kuwaitis and 4 for non-Kuwaitis.
Among expatriate communities, Indians constituted the largest group, followed by Egyptians, Bangladeshis, Filipinos, Syrians, Sri Lankans, Saudis, Nepalese, Pakistanis, and Jordanians.
