The Criminal Court of First Instance acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of possession of illicit drugs meant for consumption, and driving under the influence of intoxicants. The court issued its ruling despite the fact that the forensics report affirmed the presence of the substance in the sample analysis of the suspect. According to the case file, a security operative affiliated to the Special Task Force in the Public Security Sector was on a routine patrol in Salmiya area when he sighted the suspect inside his car causing a traffic logjam.
He approached the suspect and demanded for his identification, which the suspect could not produce, so he ordered him to alight from the car. It was at that point that the officer noticed the disoriented state of the suspect and found a packet of cigarettes stuffed with white and red substances suspected to be illicit drugs inside his pocket.
