ONE-IN-THREE EXPATS TO LEAVE EARLIER THAN PLANNED

KuwaitCity: One-third of the expatriates arriving in Kuwait are planning to leave thecountry sooner than they planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic flare-up,revealed a survey by the German network, Internations. 

Accordingto the annual survey by The Expat Insider 2021, Kuwait has for the seventhconsecutive year ranked at the bottom among 58 countries in the list ofcountries ranked according to attractiveness for people to immigrate, for work,and residence. 

Inthe sud-indicators, Kuwait ranked last in the world in quality of life,entertainment options, personal happiness, travel, and mobility, and is alsothe worst destination for immigrants considering the ease of settlement. And amajority of immigrants feel not being able to integrate with the local culture.51% felt difficulty in making new friends and a staggering 62% found it hard tomake friends among citizens. Kuwait ranks 56th in Health and Safety, 39th inSecurity and Safety, 49th in Digital Life, and 58th in environmental Qualityamong the sub-indices. 

Globally,the survey ranked Taiwan, Mexico, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Portugal, New Zealand,Australia, Ecuador, Canada, and Vietnam as the best places to expatriate, live,and work in 2021, b The United States ranked 34 out of 59 countries, largelydue to expats’ view of America’s quality of life. 

Taiwantopped the index for the third year in a row. At the same time, the surveyranked Kuwait, Italy, South Africa, Russia, Egypt, Japan, Cyprus, Turkey, India,and Malta as the worst countries for immigrants in the world.
