KUWAIT APPROVES NEW TREATMENT FOR MILD TO MODERATE CORONAVIRUS CASES.

Kuwait City: GSK and Vir Biotechnology’s Sotrovimab has been cleared by the MoH, Kuwait for treating the COVID-19 virus. 

Kuwait thus becomes the second country after the UAE in the region to approve the use of the antibody treatment for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 cases.Kuwait also announced on Wednesday a $40 million donation to COVAX, the international program designed to help supply developing countries with vaccines against the disease.

The assistant undersecretary for medicines and nutrition supervision reported that the drug is used for such cases among adults and children aged 12 and above. Moreover, the medicine is also used for individuals of age 65 years and above, but not for patients who are hospitalized and need oxygen support to battle COVID-19 infection.According to clinical studies, medicine has drastically lowered hospital admissions and deaths.
