230 LEFT DEAD IN CANADA AS TEMPERATURE HITS AN ALL-TIME HIGH OF 49.5 DEGREES CELSIUS

As the temperature soared to record levels and hitting a high of 49.5 degrees Celcius, British Columbia witnessed 230 deaths due to the heatwave. 

The temperatures have remained high for the third day in a row reaching 121 degrees Fahrenheit (49.5 degrees Celsius) in Lytton, British Columbia, about 155 miles (250 kilometres) east of Vancouver, the country's weather service, Environment Canada, reported.

At least 69 people have died in the Vancouver area of Canada. The heatwave has engulfed the west of the country and the US Pacific Northwest. Most of the deaths were elderly or those who had underlying medical conditions.
