Kuwait City: Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Sibi George has said that nurses should not pay more than a penny in recruitment fees for recruitment to Kuwait unless directed by the Government of India. His warning came at an open house on India-Kuwait nurses recruitment.

According to the notification of the Government of India, recruitment agencies cannot charge more than Rs 30,000. Buying more of this is corruption. If anyone buys like this, they should inform the embassy about them. The ambassador said action would be taken for sure.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health is exploring the possibility of recruiting nurses directly from India through intermediaries. This issue is under discussion.

He added that the government was also trying to reduce the cost of recruiting domestic workers. At the Open House, the Ambassador discussed a number of issues with representatives of Indian associations and members of the nursing community.
