DECISION TO INCREASE FINES FOR PRIVATE COMPANIES NOT HIRING KUWAITIS

Kuwait City:  The Manpower Authority has decided to increase the fines levied on private companies that do not employ a certain percentage of Kuwaitis. The Authority has submitted the decision to the Civil Service Bureau. It will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval after discussions at the ministerial level. Sources claim that the decision will create hundreds of jobs for citizens who want to work in the private sector and ease the pressure on the government sector.


The Authority is re-examining the percentage of national workers in NGOs to meet international standards in the economic field. The country spends a large amount of money every year on Kuwaiti employment in the private sector. However, sources said that the authority is only interested in providing such support to those who deserve it.
