Kuwait City:  Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi affirmed that Kuwait TV, over its long history which spanned for 60 years, constituted an important mark in the Arab media. The official broadcast of the channel began on November 15, 1961. The program aired four hours a day on Black and White. Kuwait TV is the national television channel of Kuwait.

On November 15, 1960, Channel One's experimental broadcast began 4 hours a day under the name "General Program", from which KTV began broadcasting news and the Qur'an in addition to educational programs for children and various other topics.

Kuwaiti television first began broadcasting color video (PAL System) in 1974 during the first round of the Gulf Cup in Bahrain. KTV1 began broadcasting 24 hours a day on April 7, 1992. By 1997, the channel's Kuwait-produced programs were broadcast worldwide.

This will be followed by a broadcast in English on KTV 2. It shows English programs showing family-centered local programming and Arabic programs dubbed into English. The stated mission of the channel is to promote the Kuwaiti media abroad, to show Kuwaiti culture and news to foreign viewers, and to foster ties between the country and the Kuwaiti public and English speakers in Kuwait.

The Channel 2 was very popular among the expatriates at that time as Hindi and English films were shown on Channel 2 one day a week and there were no other TV channels or satellite channels available in Kuwait at that time.
