'TRACE BRIBERY RISKS', KUWAIT RANKED SECOND IN GULF

Kuwait City: Kuwait dropped 12 places in the TRACE bribery risk index for 2021, from 83rd to 95th globally, after ranking 83rd in 2020, while ranking second among Gulf Cooperation Council countries, after the UAE, which ranked 54th globally.


Oman was ranked third in the Gulf and 114th overall, with Saudi Arabia ranking 121st overall and Qatar and Bahrain ranking 123rd and 138th, respectively.

TRACE data show that Kuwait received a weighted average score of 48 in the following areas:

Opportunities: bribery risks arising from interactions between businesses and governments (51 points).

Deterrence and Law Enforcement: The effectiveness of formal and informal deterrence in the fight against bribery (55 points).

Transparency: the government's openness in enforcing regulations (38 points).

Oversight: The ability of civil society and the press to provide oversight (46 points).
