KUWAIT INTENDS TO INTRODUCE 15-YEAR RESIDENCY PROGRAMME FOR INVESTORS AND BUISNESSMEN

Kuwait City: Kuwait intends to grant expatriate investors, owners of companies and commercial projects, and CEOs of selected business units residency for a period of 5 to 15 years.

The government is working to change the residency and work permit systems to eliminate the need for sponsorship for some expatriates who contribute to the national economy, according to daily reports citing sources.

The move is aimed at expatriates who want to invest in the country or owners of existing projects who have residencies under the current system (Article 18). There are discussions underway to provide residency for up to 15 years on the basis of a state guarantee.
