NEW VARIANT OMICRON, FIRST CONFIRMATION IN EUROPE WAS OF A RETURNEE FROM AN ARAB COUNTRY

Kuwait City: Leading Belgian virologist reveals that Omicron was first confirmed in person in Europe who return from the Arab world. This was reported by the Russia Today website. Mark von Ranst, a virologist who has confirmed the case, works in a laboratory in collaboration with the Public Health Authority of Belgium. 


Tests in Belgium confirmed the B1,1.529 covid variant per person. He arrived in Belgium on November 11 from Egypt. It started showing symptoms on November 22nd. A subsequent test yesterday revealed that covid's genetically modified variant was affected.
