Officials in the Philippines are still assessing the damage caused by the strongest typhoon to strike the country this year, with many deaths recorded as the storm ripped over the archipelago, uprooting trees, toppling power lines, and flooding villages in its path.On Friday, four people were killed in the central Philippine province of Negros Occidental, according to the Rappler news website, including a 64-year-old lady who was crushed when a tree fell on her home in the town of San Carlos.The governor of Negros Occidental, Eugenio Jose 'Bong' Lacson, was quoted as claiming that the storm had destroyed an emergency triage centre at a local hospital and caused floods in Kabankalan City in the province's southern region.
