UK, France set COVID-19 records as airlines cancel flights

London ; On Friday, the United Kingdom and France reported record numbers of new COVID-19 infections as the spreading Omicron variant forced global airlines to cancel thousands of flights.

Meanwhile, despite a fourth wave of cases caused by the Omicron variant, South Africa relaxed a number of coronavirus restrictions.
