PAM rejects to hire foreign fishermen

KUWAIT CITY: According to Dhaher Al-Suwayan, the head of the Kuwait Fishermen Union, the fishing sector is excluded from the first category of national employment ratios because there are no Kuwaiti workers in the fishing profession, according to Al-Anba daily.

He urged the Cabinet to find a quick solution to the problem of a fish shortage.
Despite sending several letters to and meeting with officials of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) about all of the challenges, Al-Suwayan expressed his deep regret over the failure to solve the problem of recruiting fishermen from abroad.

He claims that, despite promises to solve the problem more than two months ago, PAM continues to refuse to hire foreign fishermen at a 100% rate.
