SMOOTH FLOW OF PASSENGERS AT KIA DESPITE NEW CABINET DECISIONS

Kuwait City: With the Kuwait International Airport enforcing the new Cabinet decisions requiring all inbound passengers to bring a PCR test certificate – the test performed no earlier than 72 hours before arrival to ensure they are free of the Corona virus – the Airport saw more stringent preventive measures to prevent the spread of infection.

Yesterday, the airport handled 230 flights — 117 inbound and 113 outgoing — despite warnings from airport and airline sources that flights will increase dramatically in the coming days due to an increase in Omicron cases in numerous countries, including Kuwait.

According to an airport official, the Cabinet's decision to extend the validity of the PCR certificate from 48 hours to 72 hours is for the benefit of passengers arriving from distant destinations, as well as for the benefit of 'transit' passengers, as the previous decision hampered the arrival of many due to the short period of obtaining the test certificate, particularly some travellers who complained about their inability to bring a PCR examination certificate.

Passenger traffic at Kuwait International Airport yesterday was regular and easy, with no impediments to the implementation of the Council of Ministers' resolutions.
