PEOPLE OVER THE AGE OF 60 WILL HAVE TO PAY THE EXISTING INSURANCE CHARGES IN ADDITION TO THE HEALTH INSURANCE

Kuwait City: Foreigners with a high school diploma of 60 years or above will be required to pay existing insurance charges in addition to health insurance when renewing their residence permit. With this, those who renew their work permit for one year will have to pay an insurance premium of 500 dinars plus 50 dinars of existing health insurance premium. The amendment to renew the residency of persons over 60 years of age is part of the Administrative Act No. 34 of 2022.


Meanwhile, a local newspaper reported that a residence fee of 10 dinars would be charged when renewing a residence permit. This is a huge financial burden as current health insurance and residence fees are mandatory, along with paying huge sums of money as insurance premiums. Most of the senior citizens working in hotels, backyards and small shops have to spend so much to renew their work permits. People working in this field say that it is not possible. 

A one-year residence permit renewal fee is 250 dinars, a residence fee of 10 dinars, a health insurance policy of 500 dinars, an application fee of 3.5 dinars and a current insurance fee of 50 dinars. With this, they will have to pay 813,500 dinars for renewal of his residence permit for one year only.
