AFGHANISTHAN'S FORMER FINANCE MINISTER NOW WORKS AS AN UBER DRIVER IN WASHINGTON, DC

Six months after the Taliban took over Afghanistan, causing a major exodus of Afghans, The Washington Post claims that the country's former finance minister is driving an Uber in Washington DC. Khalid Payenda (40), the finance minister, resigned a week before the Taliban took over Kabul after his relationship with previous Afghan President Ashraf Ghani deteriorated.

Payenda told the Washington Post that one night earlier this week, he earned "a little over $150 for six hours' labour, not considering my commute a mediocre night." In Afghanistan, he once commanded a $6 billion budget sponsored by the United States.

Payenda was reunited with his family after arriving in the United States. According to the Washington Post, Payenda told one of his passengers that the transition from Kabul to Washington had been "quite an adjustment."
