DEAD FISH IN 'NAQAAT AL-SHAMLAN'

Kuwait City: The Kuwait diving team revealed that it has recently observed recently dead fish in Naqaat Al-Shamlan in the Souq Sharq area, in keeping with the expectations of the Environment Public Authority concerning the occurrence of the red tide phenomena and the attendant death of fish.

In collaboration with the management of Souq Sharq and the Kuwait Fishermen's Union, the crew stated that all rubbish had been removed. The EPA had issued a warning about a week ago about the possibility of fish deaths in Kuwait Bay due to high temperatures and stagnant water, as well as some human activities (draining untreated water and rainwater into drainage networks), which contributed to lowering the quality of sea water and allowing plankton to flourish — the vegetation that causes the phenomenon of red tide, which is accompanied by fish deaths.
