PRICE INCREASES FOR HAJJ PACKAGES THIS YEAR

Kuwait City: After a two-year break, Hajj offices have begun to prepare, with some sending WhatsApp messages to individuals seeking to undertake Hajj in order to book spots for them in exchange for a KD 1,000 downpayment. The Hajj package costs KD 3,700 per person and can go up to 6,000, according to Al-Seyassah daily, citing reliable sources.


They disclosed that the number of those permitted to perform Hajj this year has been decreased to approximately 3,600 citizens. According to the sources, the high costs are due to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs' mismanagement of the numbers allowed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and their distribution to Hajj offices that monopolise this matter, as well as not allowing the concept of supply and demand to take its course, which leads to the offices' agreement to extend their appetites to raise prices in an unjustified manner.
