Kuwait City: The Ministry of Power has decided to convert the existing street lights in all the governorates of the country to LED lights for energy conservation. It is reported that the Ministry has started the tender process for the replacement of old street lights and installation of LED headlights on the main roads and inland areas of Kuwait. The ministry aims to ensure energy conservation through the project.

It is estimated that the new scheme will save up to 70 per cent of the total energy used for street lighting. 70,000 lights on the roads will be replaced. Without energy conservation, LED street lights have 10 times longer life than conventional lights, sources said.
