IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE, UKRAINE IS CONSIDERING SAME-SEX UNIONS

The president of Ukraine will take the suggestion into consideration after receiving enough signatures on a petition seeking for same-sex marriage to be legalised.

President Volodymyr Zelensky now has 10 days to reply to the petition after receiving more than 28,000 signatures.

In Ukraine, homosexuality is not against the law, but same-sex unions and civil partnerships are not accepted.

Particular issues have arisen for LGBT individuals enlisting in the military since Russia's incursion.

For instance, same-sex partners in Ukraine are not permitted to retrieve the deceased's body or bury them.
