TOURISTS STRANDED IN CHINA RESORT CITY FOLLOWING COVID CLOSURE

Kuwait City: Following an increase in coronavirus cases, more than 2,000 visitors have been stuck in a Chinese coastal city. Over the weekend, officials in Beihai shut down urban areas and ordered mass testing of the city's 1.9 million citizens. It comes as concerns mount about China's "zero-Covid" policy's impact on the world's second largest economy.

Official numbers released last week showed that the country's GDP fell in the second quarter of this year as a result of Covid-19 limitations affecting businesses and consumers.
In the five days leading up to July 16, Beihai, a popular summer destination in China's southern Guangxi region, registered more than 450 infections.
