AS EUROPE EXPERIENCES HEATWAVE, WILDFIRES ERUPT ACROSS GREECE, SPAIN, AND ITALY

In Europe, where a heatwave has exacerbated dry conditions, wildfires are spreading.

Firefighters are still battling fires in Greece, Spain, and Italy despite the fact that temperatures have dropped in France and the United Kingdom.

The fires in the severely damaged south-west of France are beginning to be put out.

Low water levels are also making it difficult to travel on German rivers as the heatwave pushes northeast.

Nearly 500 firefighters were fighting a fire on Mount Penteli, which is northeast of Athens, the capital of Greece.
