Kuwait City: According to the report of the World Health Organization, 87 billion dollars were sent to India from foreign countries last year. Countries including China and Mexico are far behind India in this regard. The World Health Organization's report on the health of refugees and migrants estimates that one in eight of the world's nearly one billion people are migrants today.

According to a report by the United Nations agency, the top five recipients of remittances in the world are India, China, Mexico, the Philippines and Egypt. India ranks first among low- and middle-income countries as the largest remittance recipient, with an estimated $87 billion in 2021. China and Mexico are in second place with $53 billion.

The Philippines and Egypt are in fourth and fifth place with $36 billion and $33 billion, respectively. The US was the largest source of remittances in 2020. UAE, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland were in the following positions. Remittances are expected to continue to increase in 2022. But the report also points out that challenges such as Covid-19 remain, which pose the greatest risks to flows to low- and middle-income countries.
