KUWAIT HAS RISING RATE OF MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE

Kuwait City: Kuwait was recovering from the COVID-19 epidemic in 2021, and the country's residents engaged in a tremendous amount of social activities. It showed the highest marriage and divorce rates in five years, with a 28.9% increase in marriage rates and a 13.7 percent increase in divorce rates, which is also the highest rate in five years. According to a new data released by the Central Statistical Bureau, the year with the highest marriage rate between 2017 and 2021 was 2021. 


13,804 weddings, including 11,322 marriages involving Kuwaitis at an 82 percent rate, had at least one Kuwaiti as a party. Nearly 1,783 marriages between Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis occurred, or 13%. With a total of 1295 marriages involving Kuwaiti men and 1,197 marriages involving Kuwaiti women, January 2021 saw the greatest rate of marriages between Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis. 

On the other hand, in the five years of comparison, the divorce rate in 2021 was the highest. With a total of 6,205 divorce cases, including 5,144 divorce cases involving Kuwaiti women and 1,061 divorce cases involving non-Kuwaiti women, it reached 13.7 percent for Kuwaiti men. With 4,661 divorce cases for Kuwaiti males and 4,294 cases for Kuwaiti women, the year 2020 is regarded as having the lowest divorce rate between 2017 and 2021.
