KENYA: WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER $1 MILLION REWARD

A guy suspected of having ties to a multinational wildlife and drug trafficking organisation that was indicted by a US court has been detained by Kenyan police.

According to authorities, Abdi Hussein Ahmed, also known as Abu Khadi, was apprehended on Tuesday in Meru, a county in the country's centre.

For information that resulted in his arrest, the US had offered a $1 million (£0.8 million) reward.

Mr. Ahmed was accused with conspiring to smuggle ivory and rhinoceros horn in a New York court in 2019.

Additionally, he was accused of plotting to trade at least a kilo of heroin.

Along with him, three other individuals were charged: Moazu Kromah, also known as Ayoub; Amara Cherif, also known as Bamba Issiaka; and Mansur Mohamed Surur, also known as Mansour.
