ISRAELI ATTACKS IN GAZA RESULT IN DEATH OF PALESTINIAN MILITANT

Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least 10 Palestinians, including the top leader of a Palestinian militant organisation.

A small girl was among the deceased, according to local health officials, and other people were also injured.

Following the arrest of one of its members earlier this week, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) allegedly made "an instant threat," according to Israel's prime minister.

In "an initial response," the PIJ launched more than 100 rockets into Israel.

The Iron Dome missile defence system in Israel stopped the majority of them. Many Israeli cities heard the sound of sirens.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that it then continued strikes against militant locations late on Friday.
