In the coastal Chinese city of Xiamen, more than five million people have been told to submit to Covid-19 testing this week after about 40 cases of the virus were found.

However, they are not the only ones who have been instructed to undergo testing; according to a formal notice, some marine life is also anticipated to participate in the most recent mass testing campaign.

A notice stating that when fishermen return to their ports, "both fishermen and their seafood must be tested" was published recently by the Jimei Maritime Pandemic Control district committee of Xiamen.
