KUWAIT COMMEMORATES SHEIKH NAWAF'S SECOND ANNIVERSARY AS AMIR

Kuwait City: Thursday marks the second anniversary of the State of Kuwait's proclamation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as the nation's supreme ruler and its leader in further development and modernization. In keeping with His Highness the Amir's inspirational guidance calling for a revision of the political situation in order to achieve higher national interests, the event takes place in conjunction with elections for members of the National Assembly's 17th legislative term. 


His Majesty In a statement issued on his behalf by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on June 22, the Amir announced the National Assembly's (parliament's) constitutional dissolution and called for general elections in accordance with the law and the schedule set forth in the constitution. "Our goal behind the constitutional dissolution is a certain and sincere desire to see the people say their word on resolving the political process path by sound election of their representatives," declared His Highness the Amir.
