HH SHEIKH AHMAD NAWAF AL-AHMAD AL-SABAH WAS RENAMED AS PRIME MINISTER OF KUWAIT

Kuwait City: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has been renamed as the head of the cabinet, the Amiri Diwan announced on Wednesday.


It stated that His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad has been appointed prime minister in accordance with an Amiri Order. He will be responsible for proposing the new cabinet's members and forwarding their names to "us to issue a decree for their appointment." "The Prime Minister should implement this order and submit it to the National Assembly," the Amiri Order continued. It will be published in the official Gazette and is effective immediately.

His Highness the Amir's son, Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad, was born in Kuwait in 1956. He is the son of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Sheikh Ahmad, a Kuwait University graduate with a degree in commerce, rose through the ranks of the Ministry of Interior until he attained the rank of General. 

He had previously held the positions of assistant undersecretary for education and training at the MoI as well as assistant undersecretary for nationality and passports. After leaving the MoI, Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad was appointed governor of Hawally and later held a succession of high-ranking positions. Sheikh Ahmad was appointed as the Deputy Chief of the National Guards with a Minister's degree by an Amiri Order that was published in November 2020. He was given new official titles in March 2022, including First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.
