UAE says it withdraws from naval alliance

The United Arab Emirates announced on Wednesday that it had withdrawn a maritime coalition led by the United States and tasked with protecting tense Gulf waterways that are essential to the world's oil trade. According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, the UAE "withdrew its participation" in the 38-nation Combined Maritime Forces two months ago without citing any justifications.
