80 dead in devastating wildfires in Maui

Hawaii officials have confirmed that the number of fatalities attributed to the Maui wildfires has increased to 80. In an online statement, Maui County stated that firefighting operations are ongoing and that the Lahaina Fire is not yet fully contained.

In interviews, many fire survivors reported that they did not hear any siren or receive any warning that would have given them the opportunity to evacuate, and that they only realized their safety was at risk when they observed flames and heard explosions in the vicinity.
