The new residency law, set to be deliberated during the Tuesday session, aims to increase the punishment imposed on non-Kuwaiti individuals who visit the country and unlawfully stay without a valid residency permit.
The prescribed punishment entails a one-year imprisonment term and/or a fine ranging from KD 1,000 to KD 2,000. Instead of the initial one-month duration, the visit has now been extended to three months, with the possibility of renewal upon the Minister of Interior's approval.
