The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Cancer Awareness Campaign (CAN), Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh said that thyroid cancer comes in second place after breast cancer among women in Kuwait, pointing out that there are about 107 cases among Kuwaiti women and 92 among others annually, according to statistics from the Kuwait Center for Cancer Control.
Al-Saleh confirmed in a speech this morning during the launch of the annual thyroid cancer awareness campaign under the slogan “Knowledge is Life,” whose activities extend until the 28th of this month, that the number of cases of thyroid cancer is increasing globally, but their rates in Kuwait are lower, as infection rates reach to 13 cases per 100,000 people in women, and about 6 cases per 100,000 people in men. He stressed the importance of early detection.
