Mothers have the opportunity to sponsor their children on dependent/family visas, as long as their salary meets the requirement of KD 800 per month, as stated on their work permit. This sponsorship is applicable in cases where the husband is deceased, divorced, or has permanently left the country, leaving his wife and children behind. However, individuals working in certain professions are exempted from the university degree requirement.
There exist two limitations linked to the dependent visa. It is not permissible for a wife employed in the private sector to act as a sponsor for her husband. Additionally, as soon as a son turns 21 years old, he loses eligibility to continue residing under his parents' visa.
