The latest statistical report issued by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy revealed that the current production capacity of groundwater wells in Kuwait amounts to about 142 million imperial gallons per day, noting that the maximum daily consumption recorded in the summer of 2023 amounted to about 52.571 million imperial gallons.

In the context of enhancing production capacity to meet the increasing demand for water, the Ministry confirmed that there are future programs aimed at increasing the production capacity of groundwater, the most prominent of which is the creation of new rights to invest in low-salinity groundwater in the areas located northwest of the Shagaya fields, as well as northwest and northeast of the Umm Qadeer field.
