The Ministry of Interior in Kuwait has arrested a citizen for operating cryptocurrency mining equipment inside a rented residence in Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City. The mining activity, which is banned due to its high electricity consumption and impact on the national power grid, was discovered during routine investigations.

According to a press release from the General Department of Security Relations and Media, the operation was part of ongoing efforts led by First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef to crack down on unlicensed and illegal activities.

Authorities revealed that the individual had rented the house from a person whose Kuwaiti citizenship had recently been revoked. With permission from the Public Prosecution Office, a raid was conducted, resulting in the arrest of the suspect.

During questioning, the accused admitted to resuming mining operations 15 days prior after briefly shutting down due to recent security crackdowns.
