Kuwaiti authorities have apprehended a citizen for allegedly operating a fraudulent scheme in which he deceived clients by claiming to possess supernatural healing abilities. The suspect, who operated from a rented apartment in the Mahboula area that was disguised as a family residence, promised to cure illnesses, treat infertility, reunite couples, and break magic spells in exchange for financial payment. Following investigations, officials obtained legal permission to search the premises, where they uncovered evidence of the illicit activities.
The investigation further revealed that the accused was exploiting an old social consulting license to lend a facade of legitimacy to his operations. He was found to be collaborating with a Bangladeshi expatriate, who worked as his driver and was responsible for transporting clients and delivering various products that were part of the fraudulent practice. The scheme particularly targeted members of the Asian community, leveraging their beliefs for financial gain.
Both the accused and the seized items from the apartment have been handed over to the competent authorities for legal action. The Ministry of Interior's statement emphasized that the individual was providing so-called "medical consultations" and selling products as part of the deceit, underscoring the department's commitment to combating such exploitative crimes.
