Dubai Police Warns Against Viral 'Evil Doll' Burning Trend After Child Severely Injured

  • 20/10/2025

Dubai Police have issued a stern warning to parents regarding a hazardous social media trend where children are burning so-called 'evil dolls' and imitating scary scenes. Authorities emphasized that setting fire to dolls indoors or in public can quickly lead to uncontrollable blazes, as the plastic, fabric, and synthetic materials can release toxic gases and cause fires to spread rapidly. The warning was issued as part of a broader Cyber Security Awareness Month campaign, highlighting the life-threatening risks of such imitations.

The police cited a recent and severe incident in Ras Al Khaimah as a tragic example, where a 7-year-old girl suffered major burns to her chest, back, and shoulders. The child was attempting to recreate the online challenge for her birthday after seeing videos of dolls with fiery eyes. The situation escalated when her own clothing caught fire, leading to a medical emergency that required treatment at a specialized hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Authorities are urging parents to closely monitor their children's online activities and educate them about the dangers of mimicking such viral challenges. The public is also called upon to report any content promoting this behavior, as sharing or reposting these dangerous videos is itself a legal offense. The police reiterated that online vigilance and safety must always take precedence over the desire for entertainment driven by curiosity.
