EGYPTIAN MUMMIES WITH GOLDEN TONGUES DISCOVERED NEAR ALEXANDRIA

Mummies from around 2,000 years ago with golden amulets in their tongues were discovered in Alexandria, Egypt. The information was revealed by authorities on Wednesday and was undertaken by an Egyptian-Dominican archaeological mission working near Alexandria.

Researchers found tombs that contained several mummies in "poorly preserved" condition. The astonishing detail about this discovery is the gold amulets in the shape of tongues found in the mouths of these mummies.The ministry claims that the gold amulets were placed in the mouths of the dead to allow them to speak in the afterlife.

The team had been working in Alexandria for many years, and were searching were the legendary Ptolemaic Queen Cleopatra, but scientists are wary of finding the remains in the area .The Ptolemaic dynasty is from Greece, and ruled Egypt between 323 and 30 BC. After this, Egypt was under Roman rule, with Cleopatra as the last ruler of the pharaonic dynasty
