PRISONERS DO NOT NEED IMPRISONMENT IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Defendants who have committed crimes in the country will be able to enjoy their sentence at home. Maj. Gen. Talal Marafi, Assistant Under Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, said the proposal would be implemented. He added that the new benefit would be available to those serving less than three years in prison. 


In accordance with the prison rules of the country, a prisoner is allowed to enter the house only in the permitted places prescribed by the authorities. Officials said the phones would be used in a limited manner and if they fell ill, they would inform the officials and go to the hospital once permission was obtained. Do not use signal blocking devices in the prisoner's residence. Authorities said he would be taken to jail if he tried to remove or damage the bracelet attached to his body. Talal Marafi said the new facility was part of a plan to provide humanitarian services to prisoners on the instructions of Interior Minister Sheikh Tamar al-Ali.
