WORK PERMIT FOR THOSE OVER 60 IN KUWAIT, VALIDITY OF FEE CONFIRMED

Kuwait City: The Fatwa and Legislation Department has confirmed the legitimacy of the decision of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Manpower to impose a fee of 500 dinars for renewal of work permits of non-university graduates over 60 years of age. Sources said that the Fatwa Authority has given a verbal reply to the doubts raised on the issue. The Authority came to this conclusion on the basis of the fact that the work permit renewal fee is actually applicable.


The fatwa board is expected to include in the decision the opinion on exempting certain communities and groups from paying work permit renewal fees. Meanwhile, discussions are underway between insurance companies and commercial authorities regarding insurance for those over 60 years of age. According to sources, the insurance may be worth between 500 and 550 dinars a year. The final decision on the issue is in the final stages, sources said.
