Riyadh : The Saudi Passport (Javasat) Directorate has clarified that if an expatriate's Iqama, or identity card, is lost, a fee of 500 riyals is levied to issue a replacement Iqama. If the iqama period is one year or less, an alternative iqama fee of 500 Riyals is required. Fees must be paid through the Saddad system. There is a condition that the Javazat Directorate be notified of the loss of Iqama in order to grant alternative Iqama.

The loss of iqama should be reported to the police station in areas where there is no Javazat Directorate. There is also a provision for the employer or guardian to produce a letter to the Head of Javazat Directorate specifying the reason for the loss of iqama and the location of the loss. The production of a valid passport by the Iqama holder is also required. If a copy of the lost Iqama exists, it should be produced as well.

The information regarding the loss of Iqama should be filled out on a special form at the Javazat Directorate. Aside from that, the form for alternative iqama must be completed and submitted. The information on the form should exactly match the information on the passport. The employer must sign and seal the completed forms.

Along with the application for alternative iqama, two recent color photographs should be submitted. In addition, a fine of 1,000 Riyals is required for the loss of Iqama. According to the Jawaharlal Nehru Directorate, there is also a requirement to register a fingerprint and an iris image of the eye.
