UAE SENDS FOOD AID TO MAURITANIA FOT THOSE AFFECTED BY FLOODS

  • 01/10/2022

In order to help flooded cities and villages in southern and eastern Mauritania, the UAE sent a plane on Friday carrying food.

Thousands of families, particularly the elderly, women, and children, will have their basic needs met by the supplies, according to state news agency Wam.

“The provision of these supplies reflects the strong relations between the two countries and underscores the UAE’s humanitarian role in providing relief to those in need and those affected by disasters that threaten food security,” said Hamad Al Mehairi, UAE ambassador to Mauritania.

He claimed that in April 2021, the UAE sent three medical aid planes to Mauritania along with 49 tonnes of food and medical supplies to help the nation fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of people in the African nation received Ramadan rations in April from the Emirates Red Crescent. In Trarza, a region in the southwest of the nation, the assistance was distributed among 40 villages.
