JOINT EFFORTS ARE REQUIRED TO AVOID TRAFFIC JAMS IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: Lieutenant-General Anwar Al-Barjas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, stated on Monday his eagerness to combine efforts to develop practical and scientific solutions, as well as to consolidate channels of cooperation and coordination between various authorities in order to reduce traffic jams. According to a statement issued by the General Administration of Relations and Security Media, this occurred when the Undersecretary of the Interior, Chairman of the Supreme Traffic Council, presided over a meeting of the Council in the presence of the Deputy Chairman of the Council, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works, Eng. Muhammad bin Nakhi, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Saud Al-Khalidi, and the Director General of Kuwait Municipality, Engineer Ahmed. 


The meeting discussed the directives of Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and his response to the traffic crisis through executive field tours to some areas that experienced traffic jams at the start of the school year, as well as what was implemented in collaboration and coordination with some concerned authorities and ministries. The attendees discussed how the law should be applied to violators in order to limit serious traffic violations that endanger lives and public and private property. 

The meeting reviewed general policies, traffic plans, and recommendations aimed at reducing traffic congestion on all major and secondary roads, as well as near schools and universities. He also discussed the current traffic situation and the perspectives of each party based on their specialisation in order to reach quick solutions that contribute to easing traffic movement and put a number of recommendations in place. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior confirmed at the end of the meeting that the results of the studies and suggestions discussed during the meeting, as well as the recommendations and decisions reached, will be presented to the Minister of Interior.
